Sustainable Design Workshops in collaboration with other professionals with an approach to sustainable design & bioclimatic architecture

ECOWEEK 2011 Thessaloniki Greece
In Ecoweek 2011 Workshop I was involved as an organizer with Anelixi for the design of a Zero Emissions Residence. The building is a do-it-yourself low cost construction in a rural area outside the city. All materials have organic solvents, are recyclable and user friendly such as timber, clay and straw.
The residence has its long side facing south with a conservatory collecting solar energy for winter heating. During summer the glass panels are removed. The roof is covered with vegetation advancing the building’s insulation and the areas microclimate. Most of these green roof spaces are accessible offering more usable space for interaction.

ECOWEEK 2010 Athens Greece
Ecoweek 2010 Workshop with Zerefos Tessas Architects. Involved in the workshop as a participant for the design of a Passive House in the centre of Athens. The building is a combination of bioclimatic design principles and clean technologies.
The technologies used are: wood pellet boiler, thermal labyrinth in basement and photovoltaic panels. Cooling in summer is through natural ventilation, while solar gains in winter advance thermal mass qualities. The building also utilizes rain water collection.

2010 - 2011 Technology of Construction
Technology of Construction module with Aristotle University of Architecture, in Thessaloniki Greece. Group project of a small scale residence on a plot of land. Design from synthesis to construction details.
Form of building and detailing was in accordance of sustainable design strategies. Use of blinds in windows and shading devices control heat gain and advance internal comfort conditions with minimum energy requirements.
